(tentative name) Kamaishi Unosumai, Elementary and Junior High School

A rehabilitation project at Kamaishi housing district which had suffered crushing damage at the Great East Japan earthquake. The building hosts an elementary school, a junior high school, kindergaten, children's house and also functions as a disaster prevention base. It is connected to the town by a continuing grand staircase from the green way starting from the Unosumai Station. Scenery of children playing on the hill becomes the symbol of revival of the town. Structual from which steps over the swamp is designed to keep the hillside reclamation to its minimum to maintain the memory of the land in people's mind. Circulation within the school building is clearly defined by the grand staircase while having wide choices of various courses without any dead end.
